About Me

Anchor 1

My name is Kate Krouse.  I am a pre-AP and AP biology teacher at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, VA.  This is my fifth year teaching at Osbourn Park, and I feel very priviledged to work with my amazing students and coworkers.  I entered teaching directly after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.  While completing my undergraduate coursework in biology, I also completed a teacher education program and graduated with a Virginia Professional Teaching License in Secondary Biology.

I grew up in Chicago, Illinois with my parents and twin sister, who now lives in Michigan.  I met my husband at William and Mary, and we moved up to Northern Virginia after graduating.  In my free time, I like running, hiking, cooking, and spending time with my adorable pit bull lab mix dog Teddy.  We adopted him from the shelter last year, and we feel so lucky that he is a part of our family.

Throughout my teaching career, I have developed a passion for using technology to enhance classroom instruction and assessment.  I began the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program at Michigan State University during fall 2014.  I will be graduating this May (2016), and I am excited to use what I have learned to integrate digital tools in a meaningful way into my curricula.
